20 Practice Hours
You must also submit evidence of 20 hours of practice supervising counsellors. These must be submitted within 12 months of your final live session. See the separate article on practice hours for full details.
Deadlines
- Assignments 1 and 2: 90 days after live session 6
- 20 practice hours log: within 12 months of the final live session
Grading
Assignments are graded as either a pass or a referral. If your assignment is referred, a tutor will email you with guidance and feedback and offer you the opportunity to resubmit once you have implemented the feedback. Passed assignments are confirmed via email.
Assignment Briefing
An in-depth assignment briefing takes place in week 6, covering all aspects of both assignments — including word counts, how to record and transcribe using free tools, and how to reference. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and get additional support.
Tutor Observations
Tutor observations form part of the formative assessment. You are required to be observed successfully demonstrating practice in the model's Modes during sessions 1–4.
AI Policy
Assignments must reflect your own critical thinking, understanding, and experience. Counselling Tutor recognises AI can assist with research, but it must not replace your own analysis. Ensure you reference all sources. See the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Counselling Tutor Assignments Policy for full details.
