At a Glance

In addition to the live sessions, you should expect to commit approximately 5–8 hours per week to self-directed study throughout the course.

Weekly Study Breakdown

  • 1–2 hours of online peer ("buddy") work — collaborative discussion, reflective dialogue, and exploring course concepts with a fellow learner
  • 4–6 hours engaging with course materials — viewing video lectures, completing recommended reading, and undertaking independent research

Live Sessions

The course includes 40 hours of live tutor-led online teaching, delivered in sessions over approximately 3 months. You will also attend an introductory session before the course begins.

Flexibility

The 120 hours of online learning are accessed via a secure portal and can be worked through at your own pace, giving you flexibility around your existing commitments.

Practice Hours

You will also need to complete 20 practice hours supervising counsellors, which can be completed over up to 12 months from your final live session. See the separate article on practice hours for full details.
