Created by Colette Kelly, Modified on Tue, 5 May at 9:00 AM by Colette Kelly

At a Glance

You need to complete 20 hours of one-to-one supervision practice with at least 2 supervisees who are counselling practitioners. At least 5 of the 20 hours must be completed online. You have up to 12 months from your final live session to complete and submit these hours.

The Requirements

  • 20 hours of supervised practice in total
  • At least 5 hours must be completed online
  • Must work with a minimum of 2 supervisees who are counselling practitioners
  • One-to-one supervision only — group supervision hours cannot be counted
  • You cannot supervise peers from your own course cohort or concurrent cohorts

When Can I Start?

After live session 5, you will be encouraged to begin supervising on a placement basis, provided your supervisor letter has been submitted to Counselling Tutor.

Finding Supervisees

Counselling Tutor does not supply supervisees, but we will give you guidance on where to find them. Our team will help as much as possible using our resources.

Can I Supervise Student Counsellors?

Yes, but only if the correct processes are in place, including checking your insurance covers the supervision of students, and obtaining a three-cornered contract between yourself, the supervisee, and their training provider. Contact us for guidance if needed.

Deadline

Practice hours must be submitted within 12 months of your final live session.
