At a Glance
A supervisee is the same record as a client, created the same way, with one dropdown set differently, and the sessions are then counted as supervision you give rather than as client hours.
Before you start
Nothing special. You create a supervisee from Your Clients exactly as you would create a client. If you have already added someone as a client by mistake, you can change it afterwards without losing anything.
Setting the type
When you add the record, work down the form as usual. In the Client classification section, set the client type to Supervisee instead of Client.
That is the whole difference at the point of creation. Everything else on the form behaves identically.
To change it on a record you have already made, open the record, click Edit client details, change the type in the same place, and click Save Changes. Nothing in the record is lost, and your hours re-count from the new setting.
What changes
- The date labels follow the relationship. You get Supervision Dates, Supervision start date and Supervision end date rather than the therapy versions
- The hours are counted separately. An attended supervisee session goes into Supervision given (to supervisees) on your practice hours, never into Client hours. The two totals never mix
- It is not supervision you have received. Supervision you give is kept out of your own supervision record, which is a separate thing tracked in the My supervision panel on your calendar page
- New appointments start at 90 minutes rather than 60. That is only a starting point: if you have booked that person before, TherapyLock offers whatever length you last chose for them, ignoring 20 minute intro calls, and it never overrides a length you have set by hand
What does not change
Everything else. The same client identifier, the same contact and emergency details, the same retention period running from the same end date, the same session notes with the same templates, the same rule that a saved note cannot be edited, the same documents, the same exports, the same deletion process.
A supervisee record is not a lesser record. It holds exactly what a client record holds.
If something's not right
- Your client hours look too high. Check the client type on the record. The type is optional and can be left unset, and an unset record counts as a client, so supervision sessions quietly land in Client hours until you set it
- You added them as a client. Change the type with Edit client details as above. The hours move across on their own
- You are trying to record supervision you receive. That does not go here at all. Your own supervisor is set up in My Account and sessions are booked with Book supervision in the My supervision panel
- Your hours were entered before the labels changed. The Previous hours option now called Supervision given used to read Supervision hours, and it has always meant supervision you give
