In Previous hours, the option now called Supervision given used to be labelled Supervision hours. It has always meant supervision you give to your own supervisees. If you used it to record supervision you received, those hours are counted on the wrong side and this article puts it right.
Why this happened
"Supervision hours" reads naturally as the supervision you attend. Most counsellors receive supervision; rather fewer provide it. So the label pointed one way and a good number of people reasonably read it the other.
It is now labelled Supervision given, which says what it does. The wording was the problem, not anything you did.
How to tell whether this affects you
Go to the Appointments page and open the hours section, then look at your Previous hours entries.
If you see an entry marked Supervision given that was actually supervision you attended with your own supervisor, this applies to you.
If your previous hours only cover client work, nothing here affects you.
Putting it right
Three steps, and your client hours are untouched throughout.
1. Remove the entry that is on the wrong side.
In your Previous hours list, find any Supervision given entry that was really supervision you received, and remove it with the bin icon. Client hours entries are not affected.
2. Record your earlier supervision the right way.
Go to My Account and find the Supervision section. Record that all your client work up to a given date has already been supervised.
TherapyLock then treats everything before that date as supervised, and works out supervised and unsupervised hours from the day after.
3. Add sessions since that date individually.
Use Book supervision in the My supervision panel for each session since your cut-off date, setting the period of client work each one covered.
One optional extra
If you would like your earlier supervision sessions to appear individually in your downloadable log, you can also book them on the dates they took place.
This is optional. The date you recorded in My Account already covers that period for the purposes of your supervised hours. Booking them individually simply gives you a fuller log.
