If a note has gone into the wrong client's record, an amendment is not enough, because the other client's information would still be sitting there. Delete note removes the text and any amendments, leaving a permanent notice of who deleted it, when, and why.
How to do it
- Before you start, make sure you have what you need to write the note again in the right record. Deleting does not move it.
- From Your Clients, open the client record the note is in. Scroll to Session Notes and click See Notes if the list is hidden. Find the note by its date and session number.
- Click Delete note on that note. Enter a Reason for deletion, such as "Entered in the wrong client record". Do not name the other client or repeat anything confidential, because the reason is kept permanently.
- Read the warning, then click Delete note permanently. Open the correct client record and write the note there.
Worth knowing: This cannot be undone, and the deletion notice and your reason stay in the record and in anything you export from it. Delete note permanently stays greyed out until you have typed a reason.
