Will the course be updated for the 2026 BACP frameworks?

At a Glance

Yes. We are reviewing all of our courses that refer to BACP frameworks and updating them in line with BACP's 2026 guidance, and that includes the Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling. The review takes time, and we do not have a release date to give yet. Today the course is mapped to the 2021 BACP competence framework for online and telephone counselling. Students who are enrolled will have the updated material, because it becomes the new course.

Why this question comes up

BACP has updated its frameworks and guidance for 2026. If you have just enrolled, or are thinking about it, it is sensible to ask whether the course will keep pace.

We are glad you are asking, and the answer is yes.

What we are doing

We are going through every course we run that refers to a BACP framework, one course at a time. For each one we check the content against BACP's 2026 guidance, and update it where it needs to change.

This is careful work and it will take a while to complete. The Online and Telephone Counselling course is part of the same review.

Where the course stands today

The course is currently mapped to the 2021 BACP competence framework for online and telephone counselling. The content, the practical exercises and the 80 CPD hours remain as described on the course page. Is the course recognised by BACP and NCPS? explains what that mapping means.

We do not have a release date for the updated version yet.

Will I have access to the updated course?

Yes. The updated material becomes the new course, so students who are enrolled will have it. You do not need to buy anything again.

If you are deciding whether to enrol

You can see the current details of the course, including the handbook, on the Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling page.

If you want to ask us something before you decide, email support@counsellingtutor.com and a member of our team will reply.
