Your CPD certificate carries the date you originally completed the lecture. Re-watching a lecture you have completed before is a wonderful way to refresh your memory — but it does not generate a new certificate, and it does not update the date on the certificate you already hold.
How Certificate Dating Works
- Newly completed lectures — when you complete a lecture for the first time and submit the self-declaration, your certificate is issued in real time, dated that day. There is no delay.
- Previously completed lectures — if you go back and re-watch a lecture you have already completed and certified, no new certificate is issued and the original date remains in place.
Why We Cannot Re-Date a Certificate
We are not able to issue CPD certificates with a date other than when the lecture was originally completed.
Your certificates are evidence, for your professional body, that your CPD was carried out in the year the training was actually undertaken. Re-dating them would compromise the trust that bodies such as the BACP and NCPS place in our certifications — so the original completion date always stands.
Refreshing Your Memory Is Always Welcome
Please do revisit lectures whenever it is helpful — it is one of the best things about having access to the library. If you would like to log new CPD hours, simply complete a lecture you have not certified before, and your certificate will be issued straight away with that day's date.
