Who is the Advanced Certificate in Clinical Supervision for?

At a Glance

The course is for experienced qualified counsellors and psychotherapists who feel ready to take their next professional step and train as supervisors. It is also suitable for existing face-to-face supervisors who want to upskill in online and telephone supervision.

Entry requirements

To enrol you must:

• Hold a diploma-level counselling or psychotherapy qualification (or equivalent)

• Have at least two years of post-qualification practice, or a minimum of 450 client hours

• Be a member of a professional body and work within an ethical framework

• Attend regular clinical supervision in line with your professional body's requirements

• Be willing to provide a supporting letter from your own supervisor confirming they will supervise your placement hours during the course

The ideal student

A mature, reflective practitioner several years into their work. Someone who feels supervision is the natural next chapter — not because they need a new income stream, but because they want to support other practitioners and amplify the difference they can make.

You may have been thinking about it for a while. Some of our graduates spent years circling before they enrolled. That is not procrastination — it is the kind of careful self-evaluation that often makes a good supervisor.

Who it's not for

The course is intentionally not designed for someone freshly qualified. The intensity assumes the depth of experience that comes with years in the chair. If you are eighteen months post-graduation and uncertain, the honest answer is: not yet.

Online and telephone counselling experience

You don't need to hold a formal qualification in online and telephone counselling to enrol — your enrolment includes free access to our 10-hour Introduction to Online and Telephone Counselling course, which gives you the foundation you need before live sessions begin.
