A Fitness-to-Practice (FTP) letter confirms that you are ready to begin your supervision practice hours. It is issued after live session 5, provided you have met the attendance and supervisor letter requirements.
What Is a Fitness-to-Practice Letter?
An FTP letter is issued by Counselling Tutor after live session 5. It confirms to supervisees (and their training providers or professional bodies, where required) that you are a trainee supervisor who has reached the appropriate stage of your training.
When Will I Receive Mine?
FTP letters are issued after live session 5 to students who have met both of the following conditions:
- Submitted their supervisor's reference letter to Counselling Tutor, and
- Attended all 5 live sessions, or missed only one live session
What If I Haven't Met the Conditions?
If you have not submitted your supervisor's letter, or have missed more than one live session, you will receive an email explaining that your FTP letter cannot be issued until both conditions are met.
Do I Need an FTP Letter to Start Supervising?
Some students may begin supervising without an FTP letter if their particular setting does not require one. If you are unsure whether your setting requires an FTP letter, we recommend checking with the relevant training provider or professional body.
