At a Glance
The search function lets you quickly find lectures and topics across your membership. It is available from your dashboard and works best when you keep your search terms short and simple.
Where to Find the Search Bar
- Log in to your account at counsellingtutor.com/login and select your portal.
- Click Dashboard in the left-hand menu bar (it has a home icon next to it, at the top of the menu).
- You will see the search bar on your dashboard.
How to Search
Type a keyword into the search bar and click Search. You will be taken to a results page showing everything that matches your search term.
Keep It Short
The search works best with one or two keywords. Typing long phrases or full sentences can throw off the results.
For example:
- "supervision" — will return relevant lectures and topics on supervision
- "how to get the most out of my next supervision session" — too many words, and the search may struggle to return accurate results
The shorter and simpler your search term, the better your results will be.
Understanding Your Search Results
Each result on the search page shows a title with a label underneath it. The label tells you what type of content it is:
- Topic — an article covering your search term, with written content and resources
- Course — a video lecture with downloadable materials that explains the topic
If there are more results than fit on one page, use the page numbers at the bottom of the results to move through additional pages.
What Does the Search Cover?
The search looks across lectures and topics in your membership. It does not search individual handouts, downloads, or supplementary materials directly — but once you open a lecture or topic from your results, you will find all the associated handouts and resources within that page.
If you are a member of more than one product — for example, the Counsellor CPD Library and a course such as the Supervision Training course — the search will look across everything you are a member of and return results from all of them.
Tips for Better Results
- Use one or two keywords — "trauma", "eating disorders", "self-harm"
- Avoid full sentences — the search matches keywords, not natural language
- Try different terms — if "bereavement" does not return what you need, try "grief" or "loss"
- Browse by category — if search is not finding what you are looking for, try navigating through the category menus in the left-hand sidebar instead
