How do you support accessibility and neurodivergent learners?

Accessibility is built into how we produce everything, rather than added on request. Every lecture comes in several formats, portal learning is self-paced, and we have a reasonable adjustments policy. If you have a specific need, telling us in advance is the single most useful thing you can do.

Every lecture comes in more than one format

You are never required to take information in one fixed way. Across our courses and memberships you will find:

• Video with closed captions — turn them on or off as suits you

• Downloadable audio — for listening rather than reading, or for learning away from a screen

• Full transcript — for reading at your own pace, and for use with screen readers and other assistive software

• Slide pack — a visual reference you can annotate and keep

Our libraries add a concise summary for each lecture, useful for orientation before you start or revision afterwards.

A combination many dyslexic members tell us works better than either format alone: play the audio and read the transcript at the same time.

Learning at your own pace

Portal-based learning is self-paced throughout. You can work in short focused bursts, longer sittings, early mornings, or whatever rhythm fits how you process and how your energy runs. Materials stay available so you can return to anything as often as you need.

On the courses with live training days

Some courses include live days on Zoom. Two things are worth knowing:

• A dedicated tech host runs alongside the tutor, managing the Zoom environment, sharing links and sorting out glitches. The technology is someone else's job, not yours.

• Breaks can be planned in. If you need regular breaks, need to eat at particular times, manage medication, pain, fatigue or blood sugar, tell the Academic Admin Team in advance and it will be built into the day rather than you having to ask in the moment.

Reasonable adjustments: please tell us

We have a reasonable adjustments policy, and it only works if we know what you need. That includes anything affecting how you engage with live sessions, portal material or written assignments.

Many practitioners have had accessibility needs brushed aside on previous training. We take them seriously, and disclosing something does not affect your place on a course.

Who builds and teaches this

Our teaching team includes neurodivergent practitioners, and that shapes how the material is made rather than being a footnote. Our autism course was co-created with autistic individuals and autistic counsellors, and uses identity-first language consistent with autistic community preference.
