I'm dyslexic, ADHD, or neurodivergent — how does the library support me?

At a Glance

The library is designed multi-format from the ground up. Every lecture is delivered as video with closed captions, downloadable audio, full transcript, slide pack, and summary — so you can learn in whichever format suits your brain, your senses, and your day.

Built for different ways of learning

A significant proportion of our members are dyslexic, ADHD, autistic, or otherwise neurodivergent — and many were diagnosed only as adults. If you've ever felt that traditional textbooks and dense academic prose don't suit how you take information in, you are not failing. You're using the wrong format for your brain.

The library gives you formats that fit.

What's in every lecture

  • Closed captions on the video — turn on or off as suits
  • Downloadable audio — for when reading drains you, or when listening on the move suits better
  • Full transcript — for reading at your own pace, or for using with screen-reader and other assistive tools
  • Slide pack — visual summary, useful as a quick reference
  • Concise summary — for orientation before you dive in, or for revision after

A note from the bonus course

The Academic Writing Course included with your membership includes dedicated bonus materials for neurodivergent learners, including dyslexia-specific guidance — built by a counselling tutor who has lectured masters students.

What members say

"Aged 53, and with dyslexia confirmed, I truly thought I had taken on too much. Without the Counselling Tutor at a pivotal dark point, I don't think I would have had the faith to keep going."

"I have recently been diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 58."

You're in good company.

A note on specific needs

If you have a specific accessibility requirement we haven't addressed, email support@counsellingtutor.com. We've supported members with a wide range of needs and would much rather hear from you than have you struggle.
