What's the time commitment for the autism course?

Created by Colette Kelly, Modified on Thu, 7 May at 10:14 AM by Colette Kelly

At a Glance

The course is 45 CPD hours total — 39 hours of flexible self-directed learning that you complete at your own pace, plus a one-day live implementation workshop on a fixed date.

How the time breaks down

Component Hours Detail
Self-directed modules 39 hours Six modules, completed at your pace
Live implementation workshop 6 hours One full day on Zoom (~10am–3:30pm UK time)
Total 45 hours Loggable as CPD with any UK professional body

What this looks like in practice

The self-directed modules are the bulk of the time, and they are deliberately flexible. You can do an hour during a quiet evening, two hours on a weekend morning, or chunks between client sessions. There is no fixed schedule and no falling behind.

The only fixed time is the live workshop — one full day, on a date set per cohort. You'll know your live workshop date when you enrol.

Fitting it around your existing practice

Most members are working counsellors with full client loads. The course is designed to fit around that life rather than disrupt it. Members consistently tell us:

"Working at your own pace is definitely a bonus."

"Well-paced and structured."

"The self-directed elements are very easy to manage and I am able to fit the work in around a counsellor's usual working diary."

How to plan your time

A reasonable rhythm would be roughly 2–4 hours per week across 10–14 weeks of self-directed learning, then your live workshop day. Some members do it faster; some slower. The portal stays open to you, so there is no deadline pressure.
