At a Glance
If you're worried about the technology side of online counselling, you're in very good company. Many of our members start the course feeling anxious about the tech and finish it confident. The course is designed to build that confidence steadily, not to assume you have it from day one.
A common worry
We hear this a lot. You're a confident, experienced counsellor in the room — but the prospect of platforms, screens, internet connections, video settings, and digital contracting feels intimidating. Maybe you've watched colleagues seem effortlessly comfortable with the tech and quietly wondered if you'd ever catch up.
You'll catch up. The course is structured to make that happen.
How the course supports developing tech confidence
- Step-by-step practical guidance — not "you should use a video platform" but "here's how to choose one, set it up, and use it ethically"
- Self-paced learning — you can re-watch sections, take your time, and revisit anything that doesn't immediately click
- Buddy work as practice — your first online "sessions" for the practical work are with a peer of your own choosing, not with a real client. The stakes are low, and you build confidence in real conditions before you take it to real clients.
- An optional Facebook group — for those who want it, there's a Facebook group connected to the course where members exchange tips and reassure each other through the early stages
- No tech assumptions — the course doesn't assume you're a digital native. It assumes you're a counsellor learning a new working method.
What members tell us
"I was nervous about the tech going in. By the end of the course it was the part I felt most confident about."
"I learned what I actually needed to know — not a generic 'how to use a computer' but specifically how to do counselling work online."
A practical reassurance
If you can use email, browse a website, and join a video call — even if you find any of those things mildly stressful — you have enough technical foundation to do this course. The rest is what we teach.
