Yes. Your enrolment includes free access to our 10-hour Introduction to Online and Telephone Counselling course, which provides exactly the foundation you need to start the supervision course confidently.

Why online and telephone training matters

The supervision course covers face-to-face, online, and telephone supervision — and ethical practice calls for supervisors to be trained in the modalities they supervise. So before live sessions begin, we want you grounded in the basics of online and telephone counselling — even if you don't yet practise that way.

What's included

The Introduction to Online and Telephone Counselling course is a 10-hour CPD course delivered by Counselling Tutor. It is normally a paid product — included free with your supervision enrolment.

It covers:

  • Working ethically online and on the telephone
  • Setting up your practice for digital working
  • Contracting for online and telephone work
  • Risk and safeguarding in a digital environment
  • Practical considerations of the online therapeutic relationship

You receive a separate certificate for completing this course — useful in its own right for your professional record.

A note on credibility

Counselling Tutor is the largest provider of training in online and telephone counselling in the UK and many countries worldwide. Over 40,000 practitioners have completed our online and telephone training. After the COVID pandemic, CPCAB made this introduction available to all of their students so they could level up to best practice.

This is not a token add-on. It is a distillation of the training that has shaped how thousands of practitioners work online.

If you already hold equivalent training

If you have already completed formal training in online and telephone counselling — through Counselling Tutor or another provider — you don't need to repeat the included course. Just let the team know during enrolment.

On experience without formal training

Many practitioners have been working online for years without ever taking formal training in it. The pandemic forced a lot of us to adapt fast. If that's you, the included course is a chance to fill in any gaps in the formal underpinnings — and it counts toward your prerequisites for the supervision course.
