At a Glance

Beyond the core curriculum, the Student Library includes hundreds of CPD lectures — specialist content delivered by experts from across the UK and beyond. Each one earns you a 1.5-hour CPD certificate, so you can start building your professional development record before you even graduate.

What's covered

The CPD library spans far more than any course can fit in. A small sample:

  • Working with trauma and brain plasticity
  • Bereavement and working with bereaved children
  • Sexual abuse and recovery
  • Self-harm and suicide awareness
  • Substance misuse and addiction
  • Working with co-dependent clients
  • Autism and neurodivergence
  • Working with children and young people
  • Couples counselling
  • Setting up a private practice
  • Equality, diversity, and inclusion

— and many others. New CPD lectures are added every month.

Why students get CPD content

Your formal course gives you the foundations — the theory, the skills, the ethics, the practice basics. The CPD library gives you something different: a peek at what qualified practice actually looks like.

For a student studying person-centred theory in class, watching a specialist lecture on working with self-harm or trauma is more than informative. It's aspirational. It shows you the depth and breadth of the profession you are entering — and it makes the destination real.

CPD certificates you can use

Each lecture comes with a 1.5-hour CPD certificate carrying the lecturer's signature, the topic, and the date. Two practical reasons to claim them:

  • You start building your CV early. When you go for your first jobs or placements, you already have evidence of professional development.
  • You build the habit. CPD is a lifelong requirement once you qualify. Starting now means you arrive at qualification already in good professional habits.

After you graduate

When you qualify, you can apply to join the Counsellor CPD Library — a more robust set of CPD content for practising professionals. The student CPD library is both a learning resource during training and a natural bridge into post-qualification development.
